Mischa - Adjustable Wide Leg Trousers

To start autumn 2025 in style, I had an idea that had been lingering on my Pinterest for ages: a loose-fitting garment in green gingham, super flowy and stylish. I headed straight for my upcycling pile: a bedding set I found on Vinted for only €1, a bit damaged in places but full of potential with its impeccable gingham pattern.

Before: green gingham bedding set, bought for €1 on Vinted, a few minor flaws but perfect fabric.

Inclusive inspiration from social media

I scoured social media for a killer pattern, and then two reels hooked me. First, a designer with a MEGA adjustable skirt thanks to two drawstrings in the waistband: it goes from a size 60 to a 36 in a flash. I love it! Beyond the anti-waste upcycling ethic, I am extremely sensitive to inclusivity, which should be at the heart of every fashion creation.

I didn't want a skirt, I was looking for a simple pair of shorts to transform into wide-leg trousers. Bingo: a tutorial by LaVraieVio on Instagram explaining how to make shorts in any size. I reproduce it, make myself a size chart, and adapt it: extra wide and long legs, a drawstring tightening system at the waist, and OBVIOUSLY functional pockets.

A universal and modular pair of trousers

For a size 38/40, I cut directly from the duvet cover a size 44, carefully managing the damaged areas.

Tada! Wide-leg trousers, in sublime green gingham, with a perfectly adjustable waist throughout the day. Easy to put on/take off, they effortlessly embrace all body types. The perfect ethical and inclusive summer (or mild autumn) trousers.

After: loose green gingham trousers, adjustable and inclusive, ready to pair with anything!
